One of Australia’s most respected musicians.
That’s what Larry Heath, writing in the AU Interview had to say about Kaslo Jazz Fest Sunday (3:30 PM) performer, Jeff Lang.
Lang, perhaps best known as a slide guitar virtuoso, is also known to pull out a variety of other stringed instruments during a set, including mandolin, tenor guitar, a Turkish instrument called a chumbush, glissentar (sort of a hybrid instrument that’s a cross between a guitar and an oud), and banjo — a one man band!
Lang names early influences that include Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, Leo Kottke, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Roy Buchanan, and Neil Young. You can definitely hear the Ry Cooder-style slide guitar thing happening — and much more — in this video recorded at the Blue Mountains Folk Festival. 3:30 Sunday — be ready to be transported!
