What an amazing 7 days of music coming up for Kaslo and folks up the lake! It’s the second, sold-out, rousing Celtic show tonight (Saturday, Nov. 30) at the Langham, a show that tomorrow travels to the Argenta Hall for a Sunday afternoon performance.
Then next Wednesday, it’s Rory Storm & the Vagabonds playing at Buddy’s Pizza, starting at 5:30 PM.
The next night, Thursday December 5th at 8PM, The Lichens take the stage at the Kaslo Hotel Pub. Expect some terrific new tunes and the band’s usual sweet harmonies.
Also Thursday evening, a handful of lucky music-lovers (max. 30) will have an opportunity to spend the evening with superb British cellist Michael Kevin Jones, and gifted Juno Award-winning folksinger Cara Luft. Hosted by Louise & Charles De Pape, this will be a chance to meet and chat with two superb musicians, as well as listen to some beautiful music, all in the intimate surroundings of a lovely home overlooking Kaslo Bay and the lake. Tickets to this intimate event are available at Kaslo Florists, Sunnyside Naturals, and Willow Home Gallery.
The next day, after a session at JV Humphries School sure to inspire and entertain students, Cara and Michael will be joined by Kaslo songstress Karen Behn and our very own Kuimba Choir in a world-first meeting of one of the great interpreters of Bach, and a fantastic singer/songwriter fresh off a wildly successful European tour. Musical sparks are sure to fly at what will be one of the musical events of the year in our region! Tickets ($20; kids under 16, $10, all proceeds to the artists) are available at Kaslo Florists, Sunnyside Naturals and Willow Home Gallery — and if any are still left, at the door. Refreshments available at intermission.
We’re hoping this will be the start of an annual, first-week-of-December celebration of all things musical and winter, designed to get us in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Enjoy!
